August 30, 2008 Hagersville – Canadian driver Peter Shepherd will stand in for Alex Tagliani at tonight’s Coke Zero 200 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race at Cayuga Motor Speedway kicking off at 7:35pm.
This is the 10th race of the season for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, and the last race of the season for Cayuga Motor Speedway.

Trois-Rivi�res, PQ – After having shown his immense talent two weeks ago in Montreal, it is now official; Andrew Ranger will finish the season and participate in 7 NASCAR Nationwide Series events starting Friday August 22nd.
Once again, it will be at the wheel of the #22 Fitz Motorsports car that Andrew Ranger will start in the Food City 250 which will take place at the legendary Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee. This event will be a first for Andrew; a Nationwide Series race on an oval track.
Andrew Ranger is also confirmed to participate in the races at Richmond, Charlotte, Memphis, Texas, Phoenix and will close out the season in Homestead on November 15th during the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup season finale. (Jun 28,2008) � Justin Allgaier, in his father Mike Allgaier�s no. 16 Zoller & Bergfield Farming-AG Tech Chevrolet, recovered from a mid-race spin, raced his way back into the lead, survived two late-race restarts, and then drove away from Frank Kimmel and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. to win the inaugural Cayuga ARCA RE/MAX 250 Sunday afternoon at Cayuga Motor Speedway.
“This racetrack was really cool and it means a lot to me to win here,” said Allgaier in victory lane. “We got turned around and everything and tried to come back from that. We had to check up a little bit there and he (Stenhouse) got into us; no hard feelings there.”
“This track is tight and unfortunately this car doesn�t look as good as it should but we�re happy to have four wheels on it,” added Allgaier. “There are quite a few donuts along both sides of the Zoller & Bergfield Farming-AG Tech Chevrolet. Its tight racing and it�s a lot of fun.”
Allgaier was leading Stenhouse midway through the race when Stenhouse gave Allgaier a nudge that sent the eventual winner spinning off turn four. Allgaier made two consecutive pit stops for new tires and adjustments before returning to rejoin the field at the tail-end. From there, Allgaier raced his way forward and caught Stenhouse inside of 50 laps from the finish to contend for the win. Allgaier found the opening he was looking for down the backstretch and muscled inside of Stenhouse for the lead in turn three on lap 215 of the 257-lap event. Allgaier completed the pass off turn four, and was never seriously challenged from there.
Allgaier, with 13 lead-lap machines lined up directly behind, also held off the pack during two green-white-checker finishes in order for the race to finish under green, as mandated by ARCA officials. As a result, the race went seven laps beyond the scheduled 250-laps to accommodate the finish.
Kimmel, in his own Ford Drive One-Engineered Components Ford, also got by Stenhouse and finished second, 10 lengths behind Allgaier.
“It was a pretty good day,” said Kimmel. “This is a tough little racetrack. You couldn�t be cautious at all; you had to race hard all day. We weren�t the best car overall but we were consistent all day and we kept it up front.”
Stenhouse, who led the most laps (101), earned the Aaron�s Lap Leader Award and finished third in the Roush Fenway Racing Ford. Stenhouse was also the Klotz Halfway Leader and the SunTrust Highest Finishing Rookie.
“The guys worked real hard getting this car back together after we had a mishap during practice,” said Stenhouse. “We did a lot more passing than we thought we were going to do. It was good hard racing and I hope the fans enjoyed it. Really glad to be leaving here with the points lead.”
Dexter Bean, in the Glock Chevrolet, also recovered from a spin to finish fourth. Bean also earned the Accel Fastest Lap of the Race with a top average speed of 107.138 mph. Bean�s crew chief Jeff Spraker was the Cometic Crew Chief of the Race.
“It was just good short track racing here,” said Bean. “I came from Wisconsin where they have good short track racing; it takes a driver to run these short tracks, and I hope they enjoyed it. Hopefully the Team Glock Chevy dropped into the top ten in points here.”
Brampton, Ontario favorite Pete Shepherd, in the Roulo Brothers National Exhaust-Cherry Bomb-Zardo-BeavEx Ford, finished fifth.
SIM Factory Pole Award winner Justin Lofton led the first 28 laps before engine troubles sidelined the Westmorland, California driver for good on lap 38. Then James Buescher took control of the top-spot for the next 53 laps before scheduled pit stops mixed up the order handing the lead to Stenhouse. Stenhouse led for eight laps before pitting for fuel and tires under caution, which gave the lead to Patrick Sheltra, who had already pitted several laps earlier. Sheltra led for 11 laps until getting a tap from Tom Hessert III, which sent Sheltra spinning off turn four. Hessert led for seven laps before Allgaier took control of the top spot on lap 108. Allgaier, with Stenhouse in tow, led up through lap 122 before the contact from Stenhouse sent Allgaier spinning off into the infield grass. Stenhouse then led the way up through lap 215 before Allgaier made his winning move.
Matt Carter finished sixth in the Stine Seed-Hantz Group Ford in front of Hessert, who finished seventh in the Maaco Auto Painting Ford.
Scott Speed, in the Red Bull Toyota, put a show on all his own coming from five laps down to finish eighth on the lead lap.
John Wes Townley was ninth in the Zaxby�s-SPS-BB&T-Saxon Group Ford. Mike Harmon finished 10th from the 27th starting position in his own Mike Harmon Racing Chevrolet. Harmon, who missed practice and qualifying the day before, also earned the Casite Hard Charger Award for advancing the most positions.

(Jun 26, 2008) � Olive Branch, Mississippi�s Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. leads the parade of ARCA RE/MAX Series warriors marching north of the border to compete in this Sunday�s inaugural Cayuga ARCA RE/MAX 250 at Cayuga Motor Speedway. The 20-year-old Roush Fenway Racing development driver is, not only the SunTrust Rookie of the Year leader, he�s also the championship point leader headed to Cayuga. If that�s not enough, Stenhouse, after nine events in 2008, is the only repeat winner so far among eight different winners. And if he can hang on, he�ll be the first driver to unseat nine-time series champion Frank Kimmel from the championship throne since Bill Baird pulled it off back in 1999.
“I am kind of surprised (to be leading the championship points),” said Stenhouse. “For me, not having the experience in a stock car, it is a little surprising that I’ve been running so well. However, I have the best team and best cars out there so in that respect I’m not so surprised.”
Prior to the 2008 season, Stenhouse, an open-wheeler by trade, had never raced stock cars on pavement, or on dirt, for that matter. Yet, in one of the most competitive seasons on record, he�s the guy everyone�s chasing.
“I think it goes back to the last answer. I didn’t have much pavement experience coming into this deal but I’ve been working really hard and everyone at Roush Fenway Racing has given me the tools to succeed. We’ve done a lot of testing; I’ve been watching videos and I have my teammates, crew chiefs and engineers to talk to. Take that and the fact that Lumpy (crew chief Jeff Campey) and all the guys on the No. 99 team work really hard to build fast race cars, it’s not terribly surprising.”
Still yet, even with the expertise of a well-oiled team, Stenhouse has never even seen most of the tracks he�s competing on this year, including Cayuga.
“I’ve never even raced in Canada but I’m looking forward to this weekend. Any weekend that I’m racing is a good weekend. Wish I had more time to look around up there, but we don’t really have time. We�re flying into Buffalo late Friday afternoon and driving over so I guess I’ll get to enjoy the scenery from Buffalo to Cayuga.”
As it turns out, Stenhouse is enjoying a lot of scenery this year. With some time away from the ARCA RE/MAX Series world last weekend, Stenhouse buckled up in a midget at Knoxville Raceway where he finished third in the Knoxville Midget Nationals. Stenhouse won the event in 2007. He cut his teeth in the open-wheel divisions in the south before he caught a break from Tony Stewart, who, after seeing Stenhouse race, offered him a ride in his USAC Sprint and Silver Crown cars. Stenhouse made good use of the opportunity earning a Silver Crown win on the Springfield mile-dirt and finishing second at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.
“Tony (Stewart) is definitely a mentor. He gave me the chance to drive for him last year in USAC and from there it’s kind of just taken off. I think he wants to see the guys do well that came from where he did. I talk to him quite a bit and I know I can always call him for advice or when I have a question. He’s come to a few of my ARCA races and it’s a big help having him there, giving me pointers on how to get around the track better. I really can’t thank him enough and one day I hope to be in his shoes so I can help the next batch of drivers coming up from USAC.”
Stenhouse also has plans to do double duty this year at Springfield and DuQuoin where the ARCA RE/MAX Series runs in companion with the USAC Silver Crown Series every year.
“I can’t wait to run the dirt tracks. I’m anxious to see how the stock cars will react on dirt; I’m sure it will be a lot different than a sprint car. Last year I won at Springfield in a USAC Silver Crown car and ran second at DuQuoin in a Silver Crown car. This year I plan to race Carl Edwards�s Silver Crown car at both tracks prior to the ARCA RE/MAX races, which I’m looking forward to. I think we have a pretty good shot at winning those races.”
But whether it�s in an open-wheel car or a 3,400 lb. stock car, winning races has certainly not been an issue for Stenhouse. He won in only his sixth start in the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Kentucky Speedway back in early May. Two races later, he won at Pocono, thus becoming the only driver in 2008 to repeat in the win column.
“Kentucky was my first ARCA RE/MAX Series win in the No. 99 Ford and my first stock car win so that was pretty big. After that win, Jack (Roush) asked if I could do it again and then we went back out and won Pocono. That was cool. I felt like that win was big too because it showed that we could consistently run up front and win. We weren’t just lucky in Kentucky.”
But as competitive as the ARCA RE/MAX Series has become over the years, there is, indeed, much more to winning races than luck. Stenhouse is fully aware of the expertise, work ethic and knowledge that surround him under the Roush Fenway Racing banner.
“I don’t think there’s just one person. This is a team sport so it really takes the entire team. Everyone back at the shop from the chassis guys, to engineers, to body hangers and the couple of guys we have that stay in the shop while we’re on the road. Then you have the guys that travel each week and even the marketing people because without sponsors we can’t do this. Everyone has their job and when they do their job I can do mine. Everyone from Jack on down has been very helpful to me and I’m lucky to have this opportunity. Every Tuesday Jack comes to Concord and Mooresville for team meetings and as long as we’re in town and not testing somewhere I’m in the meeting.”
Like most all up and coming drivers, Stenhouse comes from the short-tracks, which is why Cayuga may fit right in.
“I actually really like the speedways, but if I had to pick between short tracks and superspeedways, I would say short tracks because the driver has more input and they are more challenging.”
Stenhouse�s next challenge is in the form of a five-eighths mile flat short-track in Nelles Corners, Ontario this Sunday afternoon.
(June 13, 2008) For the last five years, Amherstburg, Ontario�s Terry Jones has been patiently passing over the border into the United States to race with the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA). With the inaugural Cayuga ARCA RE/MAX 250 coming soon to Cayuga Motor Speedway, the tables have turned now, and it�s about time according to Jones.
“I don�t know why it�s taken so long,” said Jones regarding the ARCA RE/MAX Series racing in Canada. “The Nationwide Series has been racing in Mexico and Canada for a pretty long time. The Canadian border isn�t an issue, so it�s about time that ARCA has come our way.”
Jones, in his own no. 30 Jones Group Racing Dodge, has filed an entry for the Sunday afternoon, June 29th event, the first ARCA RE/MAX Series race in Canada since 1992.
“We�re excited to be racing in Canada,” added Jones, whose career-best finish was sixth at Winchester Speedway in 2007. “I�m sure we�ll have a lot of support from family and friends, so it would be huge for me to go there and do well. More than that, we want to win the race. We�ve got a new short-track car for Cayuga; we�re gonna test there next week.”
Jones, despite being a hometowner, so to speak, has never raced at Cayuga.
“We went and checked out the track last week � saw a late model race over there. They really pack �em in over there. I�m sure the Canadian fans will be very receptive to the ARCA RE/MAX Series racing at Cayuga. I really think it�ll be as big as the Nationwide Series coming to the area. The Canadian fans are very knowledgeable when it comes to stock car racing; and they�re very aware of ARCA. I�ve had a lot of people call me and tell me they�d rather watch an ARCA race over NASCAR. But they stop me all the time and tell me how much they enjoy the diversity in this series (ARCA) and all the action. If there�s one thing I always hear, it�s that an ARCA race is never boring. I think the fans, from both countries, are in for a real treat at Cayuga.”
The ARCA RE/MAX Series, in its 56th consecutive season, is renowned for its diversity regularly competing on a wide variety of tracks from short-tracks, on both dirt and pavement to superspeedways such as Daytona, Talladega, Michigan, and Pocono, to name a few. To add to the diversity element, the ARCA RE/MAX Series has added a road course event at New Jersey Motorsports Park later this year.
In addition to the ARCA RE/MAX Series racing at Cayuga, the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will join the racing card for an ARCA double-header weekend kicking off with the ARCA Lincoln Welders 50 Saturday afternoon, June 28th.

Cayuga Motor Speedway, a .625-mile paved short-track in Nelles Corners, Ontario, will host the 56-year-old tour with the Cayuga ARCA RE/MAX 250 Sunday afternoon, June 29th.
In addition, the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will join the ARCA RE/MAX Series for an ARCA double-header weekend kicking off with the ARCA Lincoln Welders 50 Saturday afternoon, June 28th.
Expected entries for the Cayuga ARCA RE/MAX 250 include Roush Fenway Racing development driver Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., Formula 1 veteran Scott Speed in the Red Bull Toyota, three-time series winner Justin Allgaier, Denver, North Carolina�s Matt Carter and Cherry Hill, New Jersey�s Tom Hessert III.
After seven events so far in 2008, there have been no repeat winners. Series victors include Michael Annett at Daytona Int�l Speedway, Justin Allgaier at Salem Speedway, Matt Hawkins at Iowa Speedway, Scott Speed at Kansas Speedway, Joey Logano at Rockingham Speedway, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. at Kentucky Speedway and Matt Carter at Toledo Speedway.
The ARCA RE/MAX Series has been long regarded as one of the most versatile touring series in the world regularly competing on superspeedways, short-tracks, on both dirt and pavement, and road courses.
The race will mark the eighth appearance of the ARCA RE/MAX Series in Canada since 1967. The ARCA RE/MAX Series first traveled into Canada in July of 1967 to Capital City Speedway in Ottawa, Ontario where Bill Clemens earned the victory in the 100-lap main event.
After a 20-year hiatus, the series return to Canada on May 22, 1987 at Delaware Speedway in Delaware, Ontario where Bill Venturini won the 125-lap race. The next five ARCA RE/MAX Series appearances in Canada were all at Delaware where winners included Tracy Leslie (August 12, 1988), Bob Keselowski (August 11, 1989, July 7, 1991 & July 11, 1992) and Bob Strait (September 29, 1990).
The ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series is building its own presence in Canada having already competed at Delaware on three occasions and at Sauble Speedway twice. ALWTS winners in Canada include Brett Rowe (Delaware 2005), Paul Hahn (Delaware 2006 and Sauble 2006 & 2007) and Nick Gullatta (Delaware 2007).
Cayuga Motor Speedway, 5/8ths of a mile in length, is wide with relatively flat and sweeping corners, ideal for close, competitive short-track racing � the kind that puts much of the outcome back into the driver�s hands. Set on nearly 300 acres, Cayuga offers fans a full range of amenities including free camping in over 1,500 campsites, refreshment and souvenir booths and free supervised parking.

(May 24, 2008) The 2008 season began just like the 2007 one ended – with Scott Steckly (No. 22 Tow Truck In A Box/Erb Group Dodge) in victory lane. In the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radio season opener, Steckly was able to hold off a hard-charging Kerry Micks (No. 02 Beyond Digital Imaging Ford), who used a different pit strategy than the rest of the field, to win the Crown Jewel 200 at Cayuga Motor Speedway.
Micks opted to pit for fresh tires nearly 30 laps later than everyone else with the feeling that he would be able to work his way through the field with enough time to contend for the win.
“I knew I would have enough time to get back to the front,” said Micks. “I had to sacrifice a little there around lap 100 when everyone else stopped. Honestly, I really didn’t think that everyone would stop that time but they did.”
Meanwhile, Milverton, Ontario’s Steckly was not aware of Micks’ plan and didn’t really need to. He had the dominant car of the night by leading a race-best 150 laps. Several cautions forced his concentration on re-starts. Series rules mandate a double-file re-start with lead lap cars to the front which leaves little room for error.
“I just concentrated each time on the re-start not to miss a shift or make any mistake at all,” said Steckly. “I had no idea when (Micks) pitted. No one told me. My car was just unbelievable all night long. The credit goes to the crew. Winning that last race last year just gave us a lot of confidence. Hopefully we’ll go on from here.”
Third-place went to Ron Beauchamp Jr. (No. 60 Mopar/Mobil 1 Dodge). He ran just behind Steckly most of the night, but with his tires loosing grip on the late re-starts, he fell a position at the very end.
“It’s a great start to the season after the bad luck we had last year,” said Beauchamp. “I knew it was going to be a good car after it got dark and cooled off. I felt we were as good as (Steckly), but the tires just went away.”
Mark Dilley (No. 9 Dodge/Leland Industries Dodge) and Peter Gibbons (No. 1 Canadian Tire/Mobil Super Chevrolet) each had strong showings to start the year by finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
Derek Lynch, Dave Whitlock, Jason White, Kent Nuhn and Anthony Simone rounded out the top 10.
Defending series champion Andrew Ranger (No. 27 Wal-Mart/Tide Ford) never got the car quite right and spent much of the race in heavy traffic while finishing 17th.
The Canadian Tire Series is back on the track next Saturday for it first-ever visit to the Autodrome St-Eustache in Quebec for the Kodak 250.

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series 2008 Season Starts TODAY
Activity and excitement builds in the final hours before today’s NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race starting at 7:35pm.
Management is releasing sections of premium seats this morning that were previously unavailable to the public! These limited seats will be sold at the gate on a first-come first-served basis at the ticket kiosk, located beside the VIP tower entrance starting at 12 noon. On Wednesday (May 14, 2008), former open-wheel racer Alex Tagliani tested the #27 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series car of champion Andrew Ranger at Cayuga Motor Speedway.
Although not formally announced, Tagliani will be teamed with Ranger, at Jacombs Motorsports, for a full-season NCATS effort in 2008.
Coming off a very successful first season, the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radio is set for more exciting action in 2008.
The 13-race schedule, which kicks off Saturday, May 24 at Cayuga Motor Speedway, virtually will cover Canada from coast-to-coast. Over the course of the year, the series will visit 11 tracks in five provinces culminating with the crowning of the 2008 champion on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Kawartha Speedway.
TSN, Canada�s leading sports network, once again will provide unparalleled coverage by televising one-hour broadcasts of racing action from each event in High Definition. The broadcast schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
“The inaugural season in 2007 exceeded all expectations and quickly established the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series as the premier stock car racing series in Canada,” said George Silbermann, NASCAR Managing Director of Racing Operations. “The 2008 calendar builds on those successes and sets the stage for another exciting coast-to-coast championship.”
Cayuga Motor Speedway will host another 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race on Labor Day weekend, Saturday, August 30th.

March 24, 2008 � During the winter, Cayuga Motor Speedway signed a contract with the International SuperModified Association (ISMA) to have the series appear at Cayuga on Sunday, August 31, 2008 as part of the track�s Labour Day program featuring the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
On March 15, ISMA issued a press release announcing, “� the Cayuga Speedway ISMA race tentatively included in the 2008 ISMA schedule would NOT go on as planned.”
The owners and management of Cayuga Motor Speedway would like to clarify this matter by re-confirming that they have a signed contract with ISMA for a race on Sunday, August 31 and that it was an incorrect statement for the event to have been characterized as “tentative” in the ISMA release.
The ISMA press release also stated that ISMA had taken part in negotiations with another speedway (at a car show in early March) that involved the cancellation of the race at Cayuga Motor Speedway, without the prior knowledge or consent of Cayuga. It was only following these negotiations that ISMA contacted Cayuga Motor Speedway about canceling the event.
“We entered into a good faith agreement with ISMA to have them appear at our track. And until being contacted by ISMA, we had every intention of including ISMA in our Labour Day program,” said Frank Marchionda, the Executive Director of Cayuga Motor Speedway. “We understand that many ISMA teams have traditionally competed at Oswego Speedway on Labour Day, and in the interests of the fans and the sport we�re willing to accommodate ISMA�s desire to be released from our contract obliging them to appear at Cayuga Motor Speedway in 2008.”
Marchionda continued, “We apologize to our fans for this unfortunate turn of events and we want to make it clear that Cayuga Motor Speedway is committed to operating in a professional and honourable manner. We understand that people make arrangements and commitments based on our published schedule and we take this matter very seriously. We have many exciting events planned for this season and we will learn from this experience going forward.”
Cayuga Motor Speedway will host the season-opening NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race � The Crown Jewel 200 � on Saturday, May 24 (Tailgate opens Friday, May 23). The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series returns Saturday, August 30 for its second of two events at the 5/8-mile, Hamilton-area oval (Tailgate opens Friday, Aug 29th). The U.S.-based ARCA RE/MAX Series, which recently opened its 2008 season at Daytona Int�l Speedway, will be in action at Cayuga on Sunday, June 29, with a Tailgate party Friday, June 27, ARCA Lincoln Welder Truck Series on Saturday, June 28. The Crown Jewel is thrilled to welcome the ARCA RE/MAX series to Canada. This legendary 5/8 oval mile track is pleased to announce it will be hosting the ARCA Nation through 2010.
The Canada Day weekend Double Header will feature both the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck series and ARCA RE/MAX car series as they showcase their stars north of the border for the first time together.
The Crown Jewel will be kicking off the weekend Saturday under the lights with an exciting action packed 50 lap green flag ARCA Lincon Welders truck series race. Sunday afternoon will feature a 250 lap high-intensity, high-horsepowered ARCA/REMAX car series.
To help ring in this special event, there will be FREE CAMPING from Thursday at 5pm to Monday at noon, a fireworks show and a special musical appearance by Think Freud, Canada’s Ultimate Pink Floyd Experience.

On-Line Ticketing Launches Feb 1st
February 1, 2008 – The Crown Jewel officially launched its new, secure on-line race ticketing system today.
In response to fan requests, we now provide assigned seats for each race so race fans may purchase and reserve seats on-line. Fans may then arrive at any time, or venture to and from the campgrounds, and be guaranteed that their seats will be reserved.
While ordering your seats, there are two selection options: let the system find you the best available seats in all the grandstands, or choose your section and the system will find the best seats in that section.
Once tickets are selected, they may be purchased through our secure order processing system.
Book early because parking and camping are FREE this season!

Fans young and old were enjoying a perfect May day while watching the drivers and crew of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series test and tune their cars on the 5/8 mile oval. After testing, the public was invited to the in-field to see the cars and drivers up close. The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series 2008 season launches this Saturday, May 24th at Cayuga Motor Speedway.
