Welcome Back #9 Chucky Boos Dec 1/08 - For all of us race fans that have been around Cayuga International Speedway since the late 60's, we all remember the infamous #9 Chucky Boos. Chucky Boos was a "true racer" in every sense of the phrase. When he showed up Friday nights with his Modified Sportsman, you could count on a race. With the likes of the Bill Torrisi, Cam Gagliardi, Bill Rafter, The Treichler Brothers (Roger & Gord) and Merv Treichler, Jim Rudolph and others, they always respected Chucky for his true competitiveness. Chucky won championships on both asphalt and dirt tracks all around New York State and Southern Ontario. Chucky was Cayuga International Speedways track Champion three times 1968-70. It's quite often said that nice guys finish last, that would be the furthest from the truth in this case. Chucky was both a competitor and a friend. It was nothing out of the ordinary to witness Chucky under the hood of his competition, or giving advice to the new race driver. Chucky hailed from Lewiston, New York. Every Friday night you could count on seeing him make the trip to compete at what was then known as "Cayuga Speedway". Over the years Bob and Leone Slack,(previous owners) have established a long term friendship that has lasted even until today. We thank Bob and Leone for all their assistance in making this happen. It gave us great pleasure to "Welcome Back Chucky Boos". On July 11th & 12th, 2009 on the Open Wheel Weekend at Cayuga International Motor Speedway honoured the Great Chucky Boos. The event featured the NEMA Midgets (making their very first appearance at Cayuga International Speedway) and the return of the ISMA Supermodifeds. Joining them were the Ontario Legends, Bumper To Bumper Sprints, Can-Am Midgets and the Canadian Vintage Modfieds. What a great auto racing event!
